Ofwat gives United Utilities green light to start Haweswater direct procurement

Ofwat has given formal consent to United Utilities to begin the process of appointing a Competitively Appointed Provider for its Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme, which was designated as a Direct Procurement for Customers project in December.

The programme includes the replacement of six tunnel sections of the existing Haweswater Aqueduct, and the commissioning and ongoing maintenance of those works for a period of approximately 25 years after completion.
