Ofwat calls for retailer cost information

Ofwat has issued a formal Request For Information (RFI) to water retailers regarding past and anticipated retail costs, to inform its Retail Exit Code (REC) Review.

In a letter to retailer chief executives, Ofwat director Georgina Mills pointed out that providing accurate, high quality information is a requirement of retail licences and that Ofwat expected board assurance of data quality.

Retailers have until 11 April to complete a template spreadsheet, provide an accompanying narrative and submit board assurance documentation.

Ofwat will consult on proposed REC price and non-price protections in September and make decisions by the end of 2022.
