Ofwat appoints LEK Consulting as Thames Water’s independent monitor

Ofwat has appointed LEK Consulting to act as Thames Water’s independent monitor.

In August, the appointment of an independent monitor – with access to company information and a duty to report back to Ofwat – was one of the undertakings Thames agreed to after losing its investment grade credit ratings and thereby breaching a licence condition. The monitor will track the company’s progress in particular on its transformation plan, equity-raising efforts and moves towards restoring the investment grade ratings.
