Northumbrian Water publishes open data strategy

Northumbrian Water has published an open data strategy under an open licence, enabling anyone to access and use it.

The strategy sets out the company’s open data mission together with a comprehensive, six-pillar plan to deliver this.

The company said work is already underway to bring the strategy to life through the delivery of the year one plan, which includes engaging with stakeholders to identify high-value datasets and challenges, as well as putting in place processes which make it easy for users to discover, understand and access datasets, seek support and provide feedback.

Northumbrian is also leading Stream – an industry initiative to publish data in a way that facilitates the join up of individual company data to create larger, national datasets. Stream has received funding from Ofwat’s Water Breakthrough Challenge to move on to a delivery phase.
