Northumbrian Water appoints two new non-executive directors

Northumbrian Water has appointed two new independent non-executive directors: former UN environment chief scientist, and former chief executive of Which? Peter Vicary-Smith.

McGlade (pictured right) is the company’s new advocate on environmental issues while Vicary-Smith (pictured left), is its new champion for customer-related issues.

McGlade is a former board member at the Environment Agency, and “a leading researcher in the fields of ecosystems and human health, climate change, natural capital and dynamical systems modelling.” Previous posts include executive director of the European Environment Agency 2003-2013.

Prior to his 14 years at the helm of Which? Vicary-Smith included roles as a strategy consultant at McKinsey, leading fundraising for Oxfam, and commercial director at Cancer Research UK.

Both non-executive directors join Northumbrian’s Audit Committee, Risk and Compliance Sub-committee while Vicary-Smith also joins the Remuneration and Nomination Committees.
