Northern Ireland Water commissions Arup as advisor for energy storage project
by Trevor Loveday
Northern Ireland Water has commissioned Arup, in collaboration with contractor and developer, Graham, as technical advisor and project manager for its 4.1 MW Dunore Point battery energy storage project.
The battery will store surplus energy generated onsite from an existing solar array at the water company’s water treatment plant at Dunore Point, County Antrim. Power from the battery will also be exported to the power distribution operator to balance supply and demand on the local grid.
