Natural England launches Nutrient Mitigation Scheme
Natural England launched its Nutrient Mitigation Scheme on 31 March.
Developers in the Tees and Cleveland Coast catchment will be able to apply for credits to offset the impact of their work (increased nitrate and phosphate nutrients in water waters) by investing in schemes like wetlands. Natural England has already invested in land which will provide the first credits in the Tees catchment to unlock up to 1,600 homes this year.
Work is underway to identify the next suitable locations.
