MOSL maps business supply points to Water Resource Zones
MOSL has updated its Water Efficiency Dashboard to link all market supply points (SPIDs) with the Water Resource Zone (WRZ) they are located in. Previously SPIDs were categorised by wholesaler region, which can include multiple WRZs, potentially with different characteristics. For example, water scarcity may vary between WRZs within a region.
Among other things, the new version of the dashboard shows which SPIDs are in high water deficit and drought restriction zones. MOSL said this insight will enable improved collaboration between wholesalers, retailers and regional water resources management groups to support the delivery of non-household demand reduction targets.
MOSL pointed out that the dashboard shows among other things:
• 36% of non-household supply points are in water resource zones with high water deficits;
• 33% of non-household water consumption is in these areas with high water deficits; and
• 60% of non-houshold water consumption is in regions classified by the Environment Agency as seriously water stressed.
