Ofwat has granted a New Appointment and Variation (NAV) licence to Matrix Water.

As a NAV, Matrix Water will work with developers and self lay providers to adopt, own and operate potable and wastewater networks for new build residential developments. The company said it expected a new housing development in Manchester to become its first customer within weeks.

Matrix Water is part of the Macquarie-owned Matrix Group, which also comprises multi-utility provider Matrix Networks, and independent distribution network operator (IDNO) UK Power Distribution.

Rob Sparkes, Matrix Group chief executive, said: “Introducing a NAV business into our Group was a logical step to take. In the same way we provide a tailored electrical network adoption and management service through our IDNO business UK Power Distribution, we can now extend that offering to those laying new water networks, helping to broaden our customer base.”
