Market performance charges suspended until year end

Market performance charges will be suspended until the end of December 2020 in view of current Covid restrictions, Ofwat has confirmed.

In a letter to MOSL, the regulator set out that both Operational Performance Standard charges and Market Performance Standard charges will resume from 1 January 2021, with invoices to wholesalers and retailers commencing from February. Ofwat said it did not expect to extend the suspension of OPS charges further beyond this date, but that “if we experience another national lockdown we may consider a further extension of the suspension of MPS charges only”.

Ofwat also instructed MOSL to continue to report and publish the level of OPS and MPS charges that would have been due for October to December.
