Leep Utilities has has adopted Octopus Energy Group’s utility technology platform, Kraken, to “accelerate smart meter rollout, improve customer service and to reduce leaks.”
Leep said Kraken will “greatly simplify and streamline processes and payment methods.” It went on to say the Kraken portal will enable its customers to “self-serve and to proactively manage their consumption online, allowing them to understand their water usage better”.
Leep chief executive, Louise Manfredi, said, in the face of challenges including climate change, the growing population and the rising cost of living: “partnering with Kraken is a very logical, sensible next step. Kraken will enable us to provide our customers with greater efficiency and transparency as well as the many environmental benefits it brings.”
Leep’s stablemate in the portfolio of utilities investor, Ancala, Portsmouth Water, became Kraken’s first water client in 2023. The compnay provides last-mile electricity, water and heating network services to UK developers, contractors and consultants in new residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. It said Kraken is now being implemented to serve all 37,000 of Leep’s cold-water customer base.
