Glas Cymru continues board refresh with three new appointments

Darren James, Darren Pope and Alison Wilcox joined the Glas Cymru board as new non executive directors on 1 January, and will be taking on the chair role of the Performance and Safety Committee (PSC), Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) and Remuneration Committee (RC) respectively.

James (pictured left) is the chief executive of AUREOS, a multi-disciplinary energy and transport networks engineering services provider, and spent 30 years with Costain Group, latterly as chief operating officer.

Pope (pictured centre) spent his executive career in the financial services sector, culminating as chief financial officer of TSB between 2014 and 2016. He is on the board of challenger bank Starling and investment platform Hargreaves Lansdown.

Wilcox (pictured right) is a former group HR director for BT, and Europe regional HR director for Vodafone. She has over 25 years’ experience of operating at chief executive and board level roles in divisional, corporate and consulting HR roles.

Glas Cymru is expected to confirm a fourth new non-executive director shortly.

The appointments began as Jane Hanson CBE took up post as board chair. Hanson stood down as ARC chair to take up the overall chair role. The other vacancies were created by Barbara Moorhouse standing down as PSC chair, and Jo Kenrick standing down (later this year) as RC chair.

Hanson commented of the three new directors: “These appointments reinforce Dŵr Cymru’s commitment to innovation, asset resilience and customer service excellence.”
