Galliford Try acquires NMCN's water division in £1m deal

Galliford Try has acquired the water arm of NMCN, including control systems businress, Lintott, in a £1m deal after NMCN went into administration last week.


NMCN Water provides water and wastewater projects for clients across the UK. As part of the acquisition, some 900 employees will join Galliford Try, including the senior management team of NMCN Water, who will report to managing director of Galliford Try’s Environment business Steve Slessor.


At its last audited accounts in December 2019, the NMCN water segment generated operating profit of £7.6 million on turnover of £282.6 million. The gross assets of NMCN Water were £70.0 million as at 31 December 2019. Galliford Try said the acquisition was consistent with its Sustainable Growth Strategy, which includes targets for growth in its environmental business organically and through acquisition.

Galliford Try said its key gains from the acquisition included: a complementary geographic fit and it brings NMCN design and mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls and automation capabilities to Galliford Try.
