Former CCW chair, Alan Lovell, is preferred candidate to chair the Environment Agency


The government has selected former chair of CCW, Alan Lovell, as its preferred candidate to take over from Emma Howard Boyd as chair of the Environment Agency.


The Environmental Audit Committee and Environment Food and Rural Affairs Committee will hold a joint pre-appointment hearing with Lovell on 5 July. Subject to approval, Lovell (pictured) will take up post in September.


His previous experience includes:

  • chairing commercial and not-for-profit enterprises – he is currently chair of Interserve Group and is senior independent director of SIG and chair of Safestyle UK;

  • chair of CCW, the University of Winchester and the Mary Rose Trust; and

  • an executive

career as chief executive of six companies, including Infinis, Jarvis, Costain and Dunlop Slazenger.
