Everflow: having skin in the game helps businesses to save water

Business customer engagement with, and understanding of, the need to save water is boosted if they contribute to the cost, according to retailer Everflow.

It has launched a new water and energy audit service, called EcoMOT, which requires customers to pay a discounted rate to receive a detailed report containing costed recommendations with a clear return on investment, for actions to reduce water and energy bills.

Clare Galland, sustainability manager at Everflow, commented: “We believe the EcoMOT will significantly boost customer engagement compared to traditional [free] wholesaler campaigns. By asking customers to contribute to the cost, we’re promoting a more sustainable approach to water saving that benefits not only the business but also their local environment and broader community.”

Everflow keeps costs and the time commitment required of businesses down by using a questionnaire to source essential information from customers in advance. This means technicians can complete all necessary fittings in one visit rather than having to audit and then return.

At present the service targets domestic-type water use, in sectors including hotels, hospitality, leisure, community centres, children’s nurseries, colleges, care homes, and tourist destinations. Everflow plans to expand the offering to a broader range of SMEs.
