Energy and Utility Skills has launched a scheme to hone the sector’s collection and monitoring of its workforce diversity data.
Through its Energy and Utility Skills Partnership of 28 utility sector companies, the workforce skills promoter has developed what it calls an Inclusion Measurement Framework to support employers collecting and monitoring their workforce diversity data. Results from the framework will be available in November.
Energy and Utility Skills said the sector has been criticised for its lack of diversity and it “recognises it is not where it needs to be in terms of a diverse and inclusive workforce.”
The framework, according to the workforce skills promoter, measures inclusion across the themes of leadership, attraction and recruitment, retention and progression. Reporting will be at sector, industry, regional and organisational levels, to “aid the sector in identifying where in the employment lifecycle the real issues on inclusion lie.”
Director of people at Energy & Utility Skills, Louise Parry, said: “The measurement framework enables employers to collate data to determine their starting point. The results will provide a baseline measure to determine clear actions for the sector and participating companies in working towards a diverse and inclusive workforce that is reflective of the communities they serve”
Data submissions opened on 21 September. The participation cost to energy and utilities employers is £325.
