Defra to review bathing water policy for England

by Karma Loveday

Water minister, Rebecca Pow, has confirmed Defra officials are undertaking a review of bathing water policy in England.

Pow was responding to Parliamentary questions last week, which included:

• shadow environment minister, Alex Sobel, asked whether Defra had plans to bring forward legislative proposals relating to inland bathing waters; and

• Conservative MP, Caroline Dineage, asked whether bathing season (May - September) sampling should extended to all year round.
