The first meeting of a new taskforce, designed to bring cross-departmental government focus to water matters critical to economic growth, took place last week.
The new Water Delivery Taskforce is hosted by water minister Emma Hardy and chaired by Defra’s deputy director Martin Woolhead. It brings together water company chief executives and water sector regulators with representatives from multiple government departments.
Among its objectives, the taskforce is intended to facilitate collaboration, so water and wastewater issues are factored in to the growth and wider plans of key economic sectors.
