Dame Glenys Stacey, chair of the Office for Environmental Protection (OEP), is to step down when her term ends in January.

She commented: “I have hugely enjoyed being the inaugural chair of the Office of Environmental Protection, and I am proud of the organisation. I think it is well-established and already having notable impact. It is set fair.

“I find the job stimulating and extremely worthwhile, but I find myself at that point in my life where I should sensibly strike a different balance as between work and other things in my life, most especially my family.

“I have therefore decided not to seek re-appointment. My term runs for a little time yet, and I will continue to undertake my role as chair of the OEP as enthusiastically as ever, while my term runs.”
