CMA launches ten year review of concurrency arrangements
by Karma Loveday
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has launched a ten-year review of the concurrency arrangements, which set out how it works with Ofwat and the other seven sector regulators to promote competition for consumers and enforce competition law.
It has issued a call for inputs on the 2014 arrangements that were introduced by the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013 and secondary legislation. These concurrency arrangements are shared powers to enforce the prohibitions in the Competition Act 1998, to conduct market studies under the Enterprise Act 2002, and if appropriate, make a market investigation references to the CMA.
