The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has invited comment from any interested party by 12 March on Pennon Group’s acquisition of SES Water.
The invitation seeks views on the impact of the transaction on water regulation, and is part of the CMA’s information gathering process, ahead of its formal investigation.
The key line of enquiry will be whether the deal, which is formally referred to as a the Pennon / Sumisho Osaka Gas Water UK merger inquiry, is likely to prejudice Ofwat’s ability to make comparisons between water enterprises.
