Charley Maher, South Staffordshire group chief executive, is to take the reins at South Staffs and Cambridge Water while recruitment for a new managing director (MD) takes place. This follows a statement from the company last week advising that Andy Willicott will step down from the MD role before the end of the year “to pursue external opportunities”.
In a joint statement, Maher and chair of the regulated company board, Lord Chris Smith, said: “On behalf of the board, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Andy for his contributions to the business over the past four and a half years, and to wish him all the best for the future. Our focus remains firmly on our overall performance and delivering a great service for our customers now and in the future. As we now look forward to the new business plan period in the water sector (2025 – 2030), we remain both excited and optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead, and look forward to working alongside our professional and trusted South Staffs [and Cambridge] Water team to deliver our ambitious plan.”
