CCW board member Robert Wilson to become the watchdog’s new chair

Defra has appointed Robert Wilson as the new chair of the Consumer Council for Water.

Wilson will take over from Robert Light on 6 June for a three-year term. He has been on the CCW board for five years; was formerly the Conservative MP for Reading East and a minister in the Cameron and May governments; and writes for the Daily Telegraph, The Times and other publications on politics.

His appointment is likely to be followed by the appointment of a permanent CCW chief executive.
