Business Stream has doubled to £100,000 the funding behind its Public Sector Scotland (PSS) Water Efficiency Fund this year – an initiative to help organisations such as local councils, schools and universities to deliver water efficiency projects.
Sixteen projects from 14 public sector organisations received funding. Among them was Renfrewshire Council which secured almost £18,000 to invest in hydrotherapy pool covers at Riverbrae Additional Support Needs School.
Other beneficiaries included West Lothian Council which is using the money to support the reduction of water usage in West Lothian Schools; Scotrail which will conduct a water efficiency pilot at Stirling Station; and NHS Forth Valley which will install energy efficient urinals and taps at seven locations.
Chief executive of Business Stream, Jo Dow said: “We’re delighted to have invested an additional £50,000 into our annual Water Efficiency Fund. By funding water efficiency projects, we can help public sector bodies in Scotland to save money and water, while also reducing their environmental impact”.
