Bristol Water released from 2015 new connections Competition Act commitments

Ofwat has released Bristol Water from commitments it made in 2015 to address abuse of a dominant position concerns about new connections.

The commitments followed an investigation after complaints were made against Bristol by two self-lay providers in 2013. Ofwat decided to release Bristol on grounds including that the original concerns no longer arise, there has been marked growth in self-lay activity in Bristol Water’s area, and there are other regulatory tools, like D-MeX, would would provide early insight into similar concerns should they reemerge in future.
