Protests took place across the country this weekend under the #dirtywater campaign banner, against ongoing sewage pollution in waterways and, in particular, to highlight how Conservative MPs voted on relevant provisions during the passage of the Environment Bill.

Protesters mounted mock blue plaques along waterways and on MPs’ offices, declaring “[Named MP] voted to block a law requiring water companies to dump less raw sewage in our waterways and seas 20 October 21.” (example pictured).
The action is understood to be a reminder of the #TorySewageParty social media campaign ahead of a forthcoming vote on environmental protections under the Retained EU Law Bill.
Extinction Rebellion is also inviting anti sewage campaigners to join a planned mass climate demonstration at Westminster on 21 April.
