Arup and Indepen identify the attributes water organisations need for the future

Arup and Indepen have co-authored a guide highlighting the characteristics water sector organisations globally will need to effectively face into the future.

The paper, A New Future for Water calls on governments and businesses to fundamentally reshape the way they operate to ensure water systems remain fit for purpose, resilient and contribute towards the wider sustainability agenda, in light of climate change and the biodiversity crisis.

The report identifies the following nine essential characteristics:

• outcomes focus

• systems mindset

• resilient and adaptive approach

• distributed mix of solutions

• total value perspective

• progressive partnerships

• place and community outlook

• collaborative citizen and customer base

• robust social contract.

A New Future for Water was launched at Singapore International Water Week.
