Arqiva appoints new utility networks director

Communications infrastructure and media services company, Arqiva, has appointed Mike Smith as executive director, smart utilities networks.

Smith (pictured) joins Arqiva from Virgin Media O2, His appointment became effective on 01 February 2023.

Commenting on the appointment, Arqiva chief, Shuja Khan, said: “Arqiva has huge ambitions to help the utility sector digitise by connecting up its smart meters and assets across the country and use the data to reduce bills, improve efficiency and cut-down leakage.

On the benefits of accurate and timely data in water usage, Smith said: “2023 already feels like the year where industry, government and consumers will sit up and take notice.”
