Anti sewer blocking campaign sign up more than 68,000

Drainage company, Lanes Group, has reported sign-ups to its fifth annual campaign to reduce the wastewater network blockages of more than 300 businesses and from more than 68,000 members of the public.

In 2023, 303 businesses signed up to the Unblocktober pledge – “a promise for individuals and businesses to keep potentially harmful waste materials out of one's drains for the whole month,” according to its organiser. And total sign ups numbered 68,424 it said.

Water company backers included: South West Water, Guernsey Water, Severn Trent and Scottish Water.
