Anglian Water appoints AtkinsRéalis to deliver new pipeline to increase region’s water supply

Anglian Water has appointed AtkinsRéalis to support pipeline works including a new 75km pipeline to pump up to 50Ml/day of water from Grafham Water, west of Cambridge, to a reservoir location at Rede, West Suffolk. The pipeline is, according to the water company, “a key part of the wider Anglian Water 25-year Water Resource Management plan, to secure resilient water supplies for the region.”

AtkinsRéalis will provide engineering, planning and environmental services for the project, which will “enable the city of Cambridge to grow and develop in a sustainable way.” It has also been appointed to design and provide consenting and enabling services for the construction of the 7km Colchester Reuse Water pipeline and associated pumping station.
