Anglian solar array generates carbon savings

Anglian Water has switched on a new solar array that will supply more than 11 GWh of electricity a year to the company’s Grafham Water reservoir site.

Anglian’s solar partner is HBS New Energies with its power purchasing agreement funder, the Green Investment Group. The solar panels will will generate over 26% of the 45 GWh-a-year of energy used by Grafham Water and save some 3,500 tonnes of carbon annually.

Director of strategic delivery and commercial assurance for Anglian Water, Jason Tucker, said: "Our ambition to power our operational sites through renewable energy is a vital part of our journey to reach net zero carbon by 2030. The scale of our challenge is significant and the solar array at Grafham is a great example of what can be delivered when working collaboratively with our supply chain.
