Anglian fast tracks £300m investment under green recovery

Defra has approved plans by Anglian Water to bring forward by a year £300m of Water Industry Natural Environment Programme schemes under the banner of a green recovery. The schemes will target phosphorus reduction, river restoration and wetland treatment.

There will be no extra cost to customers but environmental and economic benefits from the acceleration. Chief executive Peter Simpson commented: “We know this work will have a significant and positive impact on chalk stream biodiversity, and the local communities who enjoy these special water courses. We estimate these schemes will support around 600 jobs in our supply chain.”
