All strategic water resource schemes on the same timetable, as RAPID axes fast-track route

The Regulators’ Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development (RAPID) has abolished the "accelerated track’" for progressing strategic water resource solutions in projects with an earlier delivery date requirement than those on the "standard track".

In a letter, managing director Paul Hickey explained: "As solutions have progressed, there is no longer a significant difference in delivery dates for solutions on the two tracks, therefore RAPID has decided that the accelerated track will cease to exist with immediate effect. Going forward there will be only one track for the RAPID gated process and all RAPID solutions will be on that track . We confirm that dates already set for future gates will be unaffected by this change."
