Affinity issues its first green bond

Affinity Water, through its financing arm, Affinity Water Finance, has issued a £130m green bond. The proceeds will be used to finance its environmental objectives, Affinity said.

The proceeds from the will be deployed under four categories outlined in the company’s recently published Green Finance Framework:

  • sustainable water and wastewater management;

  • pollution prevention and control;

  • terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity conservation; and

  • energy efficiency

The issuance is Affinity Water’s first green bond. The Class A 0.01%-plus-consumer-prices-index-linked private placement bond is due in September 2038.

The company said the Green Finance Framework helped it to attract investors who are supportive of its environmental goals.
