CMA names panel for price control appeal

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has named four members from its specialist panels who it anticipates will form a reference group for the appeals process for the four water companies who have challenged Ofwat’s PR 19 Final Determinations.

The communications background-dominated group expected to make up the panel under the authority's appeals chair, Kip Meek – a founder of Communications Chambers and former senior advisor for EE and BT – comprises:

CMA communications panel member, former partner with Deloitte and Arthur Andersen, and expert in regulatory and commercial disputes Robin Cohen

utilities panel member and solicitor with a a career in regulated industries, Anne Fletcher;

former solicitor and legal and policy adviser to the CMA and government departments and communications panel member, Roland Green; and

​communications panel member with international experience in the economics of competition policy and regulation and a former member of Ofcom's competition group, Paul Muysert.

The authority has said it is soon to publish a timetable "outlining the key milestones and proposed timeframe for the completion of the redeterminations."
