DWF wins lion's share of new legal services contracts with Severn Trent
Severn Trent Water and its Hafren Dyfrdwy Cyfyngedig subsidiary has split up a ten-year old sole-provider, legal services contract among five law firms after a tender opened last July. DWF took the lion’s share of the deal winning the work for Severn Trent’s operations and places on two other panels for its regulated and service businesses.
According to reports in the legal press, DWF is to provide retained legal services under a three-year, £3.4m contract for Severn Trent’s operations on construction, commercial, employment, procurement law, regulatory, environmental, regulatory prosecutions, health and safety, disputes and litigation, data privacy, intellectual property, competition, renewables, planning and real estate.
And, it was reported that DWF, Burges Salmon, Penningtons Manches Cooper, Shakespeare Martineau and, former holder of the sole retainer contract, Eversheds Sutherland, will share contracts worth £4.5m to provide legal services to Severn Trent’s regulated, renewables and services businesses.
Head of legal for Severn Trent, Shazadi Stinton, said, “We firmly believe we’ve picked the firms that can help us drive costs down for our customers while also offering us the benefits of their experience and innovative ideas. On top of that, we’re delighted to be working with them to promote inclusion and diversity in the legal industry which is something that we’re extremely keen to support."
