Average combined bill to fall by £17 to £396 for 2020-21

Water UK announced last week that average water and sewerage bills in England and Wales will fall by 4% from

1 April when the 2020-21 financial year begins.

While there are variations company to company, the average bill will fall by £17, from £413 to £396.

The trade body said: “After inflation, average bills are around the same level that they were a decade ago. This contrasts with the large rises in bills in other areas such as energy and rail.”

It added that well as planning to cut bills in real terms during the new 2020-2025 period, water companies intend to spend at least £1bn a year making substantial environmental enhancements.
