Labour appoints Pollard as shadow environment secretary

The Labour Party has appointed MP for Plymouth, Sutton and Devonport, Luke Pollard, as shadow environment secretary. Pollard (pictured) was already part of the environment team but was promoted to the top post after predecessor Sue Hayman lost her seat in December’s general election.

There has been no change in the environment brief at either the Conservative or Liberal Democrat parties. Theresa Villiers continues as environment secretary, and acting Lib Dem leader Ed Davey last week confirmed Wera Hobhouse would continue to lead for the party on Climate Emergency, Energy and the Environment.
