Moriarty moved from Defra to permanent secretary at EU exit department

Permanent secretary at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), Clare Moriarty, has been appointed as Permanent secretary at the Department for Exiting the European Union (DExEU).

The Civil Service Commission will “in due course” lead a competition to find a successor to Moriarty. The current lead on Defra’s EU Exit preparations, Tamara Finkelstein, will be acting permanent secretary at Defra until a successor is appointed.

Moriarty will succeed Philip Rycroft who has retired.
