WWF’s Tony Juniper set to chair Natural England

Defra has announced its preferred candidate for the chair of Natural England is WWF executive director for advocacy and campaigns, Tony Juniper.

Juniper (pictured) is also president of Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts and fellow of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. Former roles include as advisor to the Prince of Wales and director at Friends of the Earth. He is a prolific author publishing many books, including the award-winning best seller What has nature ever done for us?

Juniper will be invited to give evidence to the EFRA Committee to demonstrate his suitability for the post before the appointment can progress as part of the Governance Code on Public Appointments.
