Thames joins Natural Capital Group

October 7, 2018

Thames Water has joined the Cambridge University-convened Natural Capital Impact Group. The group comprises high-profile companies that seek to include considerations of natural capital – environmental assets such as land and waterways – in their decision making.

Thames Water's external affairs and sustainability director, Richard Aylard, said: “Understanding and measuring the value of the natural environment in providing goods and services can help us make more informed decisions about how we operate our assets and invest in the future.”

The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), which set up the Natural Capital Group, launched, in May this year, the catchment management declaration –  a collaborative initiative aimed at creating multi-sector water management, in response to the water catchment-related ambition of the UK government’s 25-Year Environment Plan.
