Murphy wins £57m energy and recycling contract at Yorkshire Water
Murphy & Sons has won a £57m contract to design and deliver a new energy and recycling facility fort Yorkshire Water .
The facility at Huddersfield will include anaerobic digesters; plant for sludge reception, thickening plant and storage; combined heat and power and dual-fuel boilers; sludge dewatering and lime treatment; cake storage and a new liquor treatment plant. Work has already started on the design and the project is scheduled to finish in May 2021.
Murphy said the project will draw on its self-delivery capabilities, including specialist ground engineering, plant and process engineering capabilities. Murphy’s water sector director, Stuart Rothery, said the project will build on Murphy’s strengths “in particular, the process engineering expertise we acquired in 2017,” which, he said, positions the company to “generate value for our UK clients by offering an integrated in-house service for complex water and wastewater design and construction.”
