SES Water has switched all its treatment works, pumping stations and offices to run on renewable electricity sources provided by supplier, Haven Power.
The water company will now consume only electricity that has a Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin (REGO) certificate which, for each megawatt-hour of a generator’s output, confirms its renewable source.
SES’s energy and carbon manager, Henrietta Stock said: “Purchasing electricity that is backed by REGOs supports the investment in renewable generation in the UK and reduces the environmental impact of our operations. We are also working hard to reduce our energy consumption and exploring how we can further invest in our own renewable generation assets.”
