Network Rail has appointed Business Stream as its water retailer, in what the retailer said was one of the largest contacts to be awarded since the market opened.
Edinburgh-based Business Stream will manage the water and wastewater services at all of Network Rail’s sites, including its major city train stations.
The agreement will consolidate all of Network Rail’s water and wastewater billing through Business Stream. Business Stream has been Network Rail’s water supplier in Scotland since the retail water market opened there in 2008.
Business Stream has reported that its contract wins i the first year of the English water retail market have topped £155 million. They include the UK-portfolios of Greggs, Morrisons and Debenhams and water and wastewater deals with Veolia, Places for People and Southampton Airport. Chief Executive of Business Stream, Jo Dow (pictured), said: “We have been very targeted in our approach to growth. Looking ahead to the next 12 months, our focus remains on growing our business further.”
