Anglian joins world-leading utility band

Last Monday, Anglian Water became the first English water company to be inaugurated as a Leading Utility of the World – an invitation-only group of 28 firms run by the Global Water Leaders Group.

Members have to demonstrate that they have undertaken actions in at least three areas that are of global significance in terms of the challenges overcome. Anglian described membership as “the gold standard for utility performance” and said it had been recognised for its achievements and innovation.

Picking up the accolade in Paris, strategic growth and resilience director Jean Spencer said: “We have worked very hard in recent years to make a difference to the way we work when it comes to the environment, our customers and preparing for the future demand for water in our region. With a growing population, the threat of climate change, and more responsibilities than ever before as a water company we have been focussing on planning ahead, trialling and implementing the latest innovative technologies available and consulting closely with our customers and stakeholders along the way.”
