Water efficiency leaders press the case for retailer league table

Southern Water and Waterwise met with Ofwat last week to press the case for encouraging a greater focus on water efficiency in the business retail market.

Ben Earl (pictured), Southern’s water efficiency manager, said among the initiatives discussed were:

• a league table to benchmark retailers’ delivery on water efficiency

• a national forum to discuss wholesale/retail issues

• Ofwat boosting its requirement for retailer reporting on water efficiency issues.

Earl described the meeting as “very positive” and with Waterwise and others is looking to ensure progress is made in this space.
