Water sector New Years honours in floods


Chair of Scottish Water, Susan Rice, has been appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the Queen’s New Year 2018 Honours List for services to Business, the Arts and Charity. As well as the chair at Scottish Water, her other appointments include a directorship at J Sainsbury, non executive roles at the Banking Standards Board and Big Society Capital, chair of the Scottish Fiscal Commission, and chair of the National Galleries of Scotland .

Former appointments include managing director of Lloyds TSB Scotland, president of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry and board member of SSE.

US-born Dame Susan (pictured) said: “I hope my career illustrates the holistic relationship between business, our culture and the arts.”

Roderick John Heather for services to flood risk management.

Paul Anthony Cobbing, chief executive officer, National Flood Forum, for services to flood management risk.

British Empire Medal

Mary Clarke for services to flood defence and the community in Cardiff.
