MOSL last week published its second quarterly market review, which incorporates data on activity between July and September 2017 to present a picture of the business retail market in its first six months of live operation. The highlights to 1 October 2017 include:
Switching has continued at a steady rate with 25,010 switches in Q2 bringing the total number of supply point switches to 61,311. This represents 2.3% of the 2.7 million supply points in the market.
New entrants gained around 35% of the supply points switched this quarter. Switches away from the current largest five retailers accounted for around 70% of all switches since market opening.
There are currently 22 national retailers, 12 regional retailers, one self-supply retailer and 25 wholesalers in the market. One new national retailer also entered the market this quarter.
The report also details developments at MOSL itself, including that Bristol Water chief, Mel Karam, has taken over from Anglian Water chief, Peter Simpson, as wholesaler director on the MOSL board. The deadline to select a retailer director has been extended.
