Wessex Water appoints managing director and chief operating officer from within

Wessex Water has appointed Andy Pymer (pictured left) as managing director and James Rider as chief operating officer.

Pymer – Wessex' current director of regulation and customer services, and Rider – currently director of operations, were appointed following a recruitment process led by independent directors of Wessex Water Services.

Chair of the interview panel, Gillian Camm, said: “We were very impressed with the calibre of the applicants we interviewed for the managing director role. It is encouraging that the business has such outstanding candidates that measure up very well to the external world.”

Andy Pymer A chartered civil engineer turned economist, Andy has more than 20 years' experience in the water sector, holding roles both overseas and in the UK, including 10 years as head of regulation and policy at Wessex Water. He was appointed director of customer and retail services on 1 August 2012 and is also a director of Wessex Water's joint venture billing company, BWBSL, and chair of Wessex WaterAid, which has raised more than £2m for the charity. He retired from the board on 31 March 2014. James Rider James is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management with over 25 years' experience in the water industry. He started as a technician engineer in 1990 and has since held a range of roles within operations, engineering and construction, information and technology and billing and customer services.
