Wholesalers to get green light to put more meter reads into the market
Wholesalers will be able to put more meter reads into the Central Market Operating System as part of the effort to improve consumption data in the business retail market.
Ofwat has approved for implementation in November code change CPW087, which permits but does not mandate wholesalers to put a new type of read – a W read – into the system. It detailed: “W reads will not affect settlement, nor will they impact consumption calculations and will not be automatically recognised as a cyclic read. However, retailers will be able to use a W read as cyclic reads but where they elect to do so.”
Until now, wholesalers have been able to submit specific types of read (initial, final, temporary, reconnection and pre-loaded meter reads) but have had to request any other reads they want to contribute to be uploaded be retailers, which can result in delays.
